Her chief work is in the understanding of Indian dance as something rooted in subtle yogic principles. Trivedi owes this vision to her spiritual mentor Harish Madhukar. She is the Creative Head of the Nateshvari Dance Gurkul, a training centre for Mohiniattam. She is also the Chairperson of Shaktiyogashrama, where she conducts residential cultural awareness programmes that integrate spirituality, classical Indian arts and ecology. She has authored The Yoga of Indian Dance, Sutras on Dance and Ananda Yoga: Conversations on Happiness.
