‘Band Baja’ promotes innovative endeavours by the artistes going beyond the set boundaries of musical genres and traditions, especially by and for the youth.
The series presents ‘inStrings’ featuring internationally known violinist, Sangeeta Shankar, her talented daughters and disciples, Nandini and Ragini Shankar.
The band explores the depth of Indian music with a contemporary touch, seeking to create newer expressions through a collaborative venture. It traverses across myriad genres from Indian folk, classical, Western, Gypsy, Jazz to World music, attempting to appeal to a wide range of audience.
The other musicians include Shyam Edwankar (Meinl Cymbals), Ajeet Pathak (tabla, pakhawaj & dholak), Shankar Lakshmanan (ghatam & mridangam), Vaibhav Wavikar (drums), Shahnawaz Ahmed Khan (guitar & bass) and Chitty Pillai (Keyboard & Accordion).
