Closing talk by Philippe Calia
In this talk, Philippe Calia will explore the relationship between the book and the exhibition forms in photographic practices. Delving into his own artistic journey amongst others, he will focus on the Ajaib Ghar Archive, a project exhibited as part of the Discovery Award in 2023 and supported by Photosouthasia, to outline the fundamental differences, overlaps and dynamics between these respective manners of sharing photographs with an audience.
Philippe Calia (b.1985, Paris) is an artist currently based in Bengaluru. His work has received several awards and is held in public and private collections. It has been exhibited in various museums, galleries and festivals across Europe and Asia, including Jimei x Arles (China, 2024); Les Rencontres d’Arles (France, 2023); Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg (Germany, 2023); SIPF (Singapore, 2022); and UP Gallery (Taïwan, 2021).
