This is a thematic concert in celebration of Krishna and the festival of Janmashtami (his birth), featuring renowned vocalists Priyanka Barve (who plays the role of Anarkali in the musical Mughal-e-Azam) and Rahul Deshpande (vocalist and grandson of Vasantrao Deshpande). They will present classical and semi-classical compositions and timeless raga-based Hindi film songs to evoke the divine essence of Krishna.
The poetry contained in these compositions is replete with shringara rasa and is remarkable for its warm and poignant devotionalism.
Kathak dancer Shalmali Zankar will dance to the lyrics of two songs.
Sunil Deodhar will present a short commentary on the songs.
The combination of poetry in music and movement promises to create an unforgettable experience, true to the spirit of Krishna.
