Roman Holiday (1953) is a romantic comedy directed by William Wyler, starring Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn and Eddie Albert. Set against the enchanting backdrop of Rome, the film tells the story of Princess Ann (Hepburn), a young royal weary of her restrictive duties. On a whim, she escapes her guardians and wanders the streets of Rome, where she meets Joe Bradley (Peck), an American journalist who sees the possibility of a scoop but soon falls for her charm.
