It is quite a challenge for performing artistes today to navigate their journey from a purely artistic realm to a market-driven commercial world.

This workshop is specially designed to guide individuals as they embark on the journey of becoming professional/independent artistes. It will include discussions on vital areas such as brand-building, demystifying the ecosystem, leveraging media and new platforms, fan engagement, pricing, revenue streams/models and more.

This session aims to help emerging artistes, students and early-career professionals towards also embracing the role of creative entrepreneurs—understanding the industry, their core audiences, carving out a niche and re-inventing themselves from time to time to build sustainable careers.

Albert Almeida is a seasoned advertising, media and entertainment professional with over three and a half decades of experience. Presently, he works at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai, as Consultant to the Chairman. Over the years, having had the opportunity to engage closely with some of India’s most influential platforms, intellectual properties, a wide range of artistes, and brands—with a keen understanding of their consumers and journeys—his work has traversed brand-building, live programming, artiste engagement and promoting meaningful experiences around performances. He was part of India’s digital and mobile revolution and has led the live entertainment business featuring global and Indian icons.

Through this workshop, he hopes to help emerging musicians navigate the realities of the industry with clarity, strategy and purpose, while staying true to their artistic voice.
