Prominent among the various initiatives undertaken by HSBC and NCPA is ‘Support to Guru-Shishya Tradition’ programme. The NCPA HSBC Promising Artistes Series has been launched to offer a performance opportunity to the beneficiaries of this programme as well as young promising artistes from the music fraternity.

Shishya of Praveen Karkare under ‘Support to Guru Shishya Tradition’ program

Nishad Chinchole is a disciple of Praveen Karkare and has completed his master’s in tabla. He has won several tabla competitions led by institutions such as Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre and Sharada Sangeet Vidyalaya. Chinchole has performed solo and accompanied other musicians in recitals across Maharashtra. He has also accompanied Kathak exponent Shama Bhate in her dance workshops.

He has received guidance through workshops conducted by Sudhir Mainkar and Suresh Talwalkar. Besides being recently conferred the B-High grade by All India Radio, he has also been awarded the CCRT Young Artists Scholarship for outstanding potential in the field of India classical music.

Jashan Bhumkar (khayal)

A disciple of Kishori Amonkar and Dhondutai Kulkarni, Jashan Bhumkar is an accomplished vocalist, committed to the gayaki of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. He received his initial training from C.A. Agarkar and is currently learning from Maya Upadhye, while also seeking guidance from Raghunandan Panshikar, both senior disciples of Amonkar.

Bhumkar has performed at popular venues and festivals in India, the US and UK. He has also given televised performances on Doordarshan, All India Radio and USA National Radio.

Bhumkar is also known for his renditions of ghazal, abhang, thumri, dadra, sufi and other forms of music, and has released commercial songs in Hindi, Marathi and Punjabi on streaming platforms.
