In their third year of training, 120 students from Green Lawns English High School, Powai, will present a total of four dance forms. Level 3 of the Manipuri traditional dances will be presented, namely Maibi Jogai,  Thang Ta–“The Art of the Sword and Spear”– is the  traditional martial art of Manipur in Northeast India.   It integrates various external weapons – the sword, spear,  dagger, etc. – with the internal practice of physical control through soft movements coordinated with the  rhythms of breathing.  It is part of the great heroic  tradition of Manipur. They will also showcase ‘PungCholam’- is a unique classical dance of Manipur. This dance may be performed by men or women and is usually a prelude to the Ras Lila. In this style, the dancers play the pung (a form of hand beaten drum) while they dance at the same time.

Also Folk Dances like Rajasthani Mela Dance , Maharashtra Koli Dance & Bengali Folk Dance will be presented.

Admission on a first-come-first-served basis. NCPA Members will get preferential seating 10 minutes prior to the programme.
