This immersive masterclass explores the central role of percussion in shaping the vocabulary, structure, and energy of Indian classical dance traditions. Bringing together master percussionists and dancers, the residency examines how rhythm serves as the foundation of movement, improvisation, and storytelling across three distinct dance forms.

Each day is dedicated to the principal percussion instrument of a classical dance tradition, offering participants an in-depth understanding of its technique, repertoire, and unique dialogue with the dancer. Through demonstrations, interactive sessions, and performance-based explorations, the masterclass reveals how rhythmic compositions are conceived, interpreted, and brought to life on stage. 

Designed for dancers, musicians, students, and connoisseurs alike, the residency offers a rare opportunity to experience the distinctive rhythmic traditions that underpin Kathak (Tabla), Bharatanatyam (Mrindangam), and Odissi (Mardala), while deepening an appreciation of the artistic dialogue between percussion and dance.
