‘Boodhi Kaki’ is Munshi Premchand’s poignant short story which highlights the plight of an elderly woman neglected by her own family. The story aims to shed light on the themes of aging, familial neglect and the yearning for dignity and respect in one’s twilight years. Through the character of Boodhi Kaki, the narrative explores the emotional and psychological turmoil faced by the elderly when they are treated as burdens. The dramatic reading incorporates the perspectives of various family members and villagers, creating a multifaceted view of societal attitudes towards the aged. By emphasising empathy and moral responsibility, Boodhi Kaki urges audiences to reflect on their behaviour towards the elderly, advocating for compassion and respect within families and communities.

The story adaptation is crafted by Ashutosh Bawiskar and it will be presented by Akshay Dandekar, Ashutosh Bawiskar, Geeta Bandhekar  and Shakuntala Nare. Conceptualised by Sachin Shirke.
