An NCPA Library Presentation in collaboration with Usawa Literary Review
Usawa Literary Review, a feminist publishing initiative, has grown into a vibrant archive through its biannual journal, monthly magazine Matchbox and YouTube series Usawa Talks. They are celebrating their seventh anniversary with the launch of The D’Costa Family, a sharp, satirical novel by acclaimed author Rochelle Potkar.
Set in a vibrant Goan-Indian milieu, the book introduces us to the riotous D’Costas—a family as outrageous as they are unforgettable. At the centre is matriarch Rita D’Costa, navigating betrayal, secrets and reconciliation with wicked humour and unflinching honesty. This book explores themes of family dysfunction, cultural legacy and feminine agency with Potkar’s signature blend of lyricism and wit.
The evening will include the unveiling of a special print zine and dramatised readings of the novel.
