The legendary Sai Paranjpye takes centre stage at the NCPA, offering a delightful medley of gems from her vast repertoire across theatre, television and film. Conceptualised by the versatile voice actor Prasad Phanse, Darwal (fragrance) is a two-and-a-half-hour solo showcase in which the acclaimed writer-director will present excerpts from her plays, film scripts, short stories and essays in her inimitable style, blending satire, sharp observations and tender social commentary.
Having started her journey as a presenter with the All India Radio, Poona, Paranjpye was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1986. She now returns to the mic after more than two decades, rekindling her voice with theatrical flair.
Predominantly performed in Marathi, with touches of Hindi and English, Darwal promises to be an enriching and entertaining experience.
