As part of our series that celebrates extraordinary talents of Hindi cinema, the focus this month is on Burjor Lord.
Such was his expertise on the drum set that during his first tour of the West Indies in the 1960s, he grabbed headlines as the ‘Gene Krupa of India’. Besides drums, his mastery over other percussion and mallet instruments, both Indian and Western, made him a hugely sought-after musician in the movie industry. Small wonder that he is an integral part of thousands of memorable songs by composers from 1958 to 1985.
Come for a guided listening session by Archisman Mozumder and Kushal Gopalka and rejoice in ‘Jaane jaan dhoondhta phir raha,’ ‘Kuchh dil ne kaha’ and ‘Piya tu ab to aaja’, in the august presence of the legendary Burjor Lord.
