The Reality Check film series promotes and encourages documentary filmmakers in India, whose work reflects life and culture in the country today in a thoughtful blend of creativity and integrity.

Mardana’s Children: The Rababis of Lahore

Mardana’s Children is a short film about the rababis, a community of Pakistani Muslim musicians with deep-rooted ties to the Sikhs by way of a centuries-old music tradition that originated with Guru Nanak and his disciple Bhai Mardana. Despite the divisive legacy of colonialism on the Indian subcontinent, the migration and religious violence of the 1947 partition of Punjab, and the enduring political antagonism between India and Pakistan, the music of the rababis continues to resonate today with a non-sectarian wisdom that unites communities across the boundaries of nation and religion.

My RADIO My LIFE

This unique documentary film revisits the golden era of the radio—a time before television, mobile phones and social media swamped our lives. Radio was popular worldwide, playing throughout the day and offering a variety of programmes covering news, entertainment and knowledge.

This film looks back at a time when the radio was treated like a family member, bringing everyone together at home to listen and spend quality time. It also explores how the popular medium deeply influenced the lives of a few passionate individuals.
