A disciple of Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra, accomplished Odissi dancer Daksha Mashruwala will present Samagam, a celebration of seasons portrayed through the language of Odissi and folk dance, both merging to emerge into a spectacular visual of dance, music and poetry.

A classical and a Folk dance Ballet, using Odissi dance as a visual medium, it explores the six seasons. Grishma (Summer), Varsha (Monsoon), Sharad (Autumn), Hemant (Pre-Winter), Shishir (Winter) and Vasant (Spring) through the poetic works of Kalidasa’s Ritu Samhara. It is Interspersed with Folk Dances seen during these Seasons across different parts of India like Dangi, Ghantu, Raas

Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Kumudini Lakhia’s Kadamb Performing Unit is renowned for its exemplary work in Kathak Dance with innovations in subjects from folk to poetry to classical to modern. This year it brings a variety of compositions in Kathak in its best fabric and aesthetics. This production is an extension of an original composition of the classical form exploring new areas with an accent on creating new dimensions for the age old traditions.
