Sham-e-Ghazal: A Bouquet of Ghazals

The ghazal is a special form of poetry that lends itself to be set in a musical frame; further enhancing its emotional appeal.

Kaamod Subhash was trained by his father, Subhash Arbedwar, a well-known ghazal singer and composer. A postgraduate in music, Kaamod consciously follows the styles of some celebrated ghazal singers of yesteryear. Over the years, he has had opportunity to perform within and outside India, on several prestigious platforms including national television channels. As a composer, he has been engaged in various interesting projects and albums. Having proficiency in Urdu, Hindi and Marathi, his performances have earned him many awards and accolades.

A protégé of eminent ghazal singer, Hariharan, Prithvi Gandharv is from the fourth generation of a family of well-known musicians. He has had the privilege of training in vocal music with his grandfather, Mohan Singh, and learnt to play the violin, piano and sitar from his father, Ashok Gandharv, who is a noted violinist. An accomplished singer and proficient composer of ghazal and film music, Prithvi’s repertoire ranges from ghazal, bhajan and folk, to qawwali and Bollywood.
