An NCPA Presentation
Dvorak: American Quartet
The second talk of the series by Dr. Cavas Bilimoria this month will focus on Antonín Dvořák’s American Quartet.
In 1892, the 51-year-old Czech composer accepted the Directorship of the National Conservatory of Music of America in New York. A simple man who loved nature and an optimist who had firm faith in God, he was much taken with the folk music of Native Americans and African Americans. The quartet, composed in just three days, is known for its memorable tunefulness, the richness of which lies in its melodic invention and rhythmic pulse.
Entry free on a first come, first served basis.
