Gloria and The Beatles
The Bombay Chamber Orchestra Society presents an entertaining evening of choral music with the Cathedral Choir. The programme includes Giacomo Puccini’s powerful and vibrant masterpiece Messa di Gloria and a medley of popular songs by The Beatles. The performance will be conducted by the up-and-coming German conductor Tobias Drewelius.
Winner of the inaugural Erich Bergel Conducting Competition in 2022, Tobias Drewelius, 35, has wide experience in conducting several European orchestras including the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the Filharmonica de Stat Târgu Mureş. Concert tours have taken him to China, Japan and South Africa. In 2016-17, he spent eight months in Ecuador with the organisation Musicians Without Borders.
