UTKARSH: IN REVERENCE TO THE MAESTRO

Utkarsh: In Reverence to the Maestro is a special series that presents eminent masters from the world of dance, in recognition of their artistic prowess, knowledge and lifelong dedication and contribution to the art form.

Through lecture-demonstrations artistes enlighten the audience on one or various concepts, providing a deeper insight in the traditional repertoires of the dance form. Along with practical training of the dance form, perceptive on the theoretical aspects is equivalently essential. Held every alternate month, Utkarsh promises taking back learnings and experiences from the maestros. Started in June, the series has had performances by Bharatanatyam exponents Bragha Bessell, Deepak Mazumdar, renowned Mohinittam danseuse and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mandakini Trivedi and Odissi exponent Sharmila Mukherjee.
