Zila’s Sounds of Surprise

Zila Khan is the daughter of the great sitar maestro Vilayat Khan and is steeped in the tradition and discipline of music throughout her life. She is a versatile singer and is at home performing Hindustani and Western classical music, Sufi music, popular Western music, world music and jazz. Khan will sing John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ and the Beatles’ ‘Norwegian Wood’ to Rodrigo’s famed ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’, folk songs from different cultures to Indian classics. Khan will collaborate with jazz and fusion flautist Rajeev Raja, who with the help of an all-star band comprising musicians playing acoustic bass, guitar, tabla, percussion and keyboards, will create an organic blend of jazz, Latin and world music.
