Clean Bold is inspired by the controversial radical feminist Valerie Solanas’s book SCUM Manifesto, first published in 1967. Meet Vijee, the fierce and bold woman from Mumbai who hates men. In a world of alpha males and superheroes, Vijee strongly believes that men have ruined the world, and that it is up to women to fix it.

Named Vijaya as an infant owing to her birth on Dussehra, she changed it to Vijee, naming herself after vijalee, the lightning during a thunderstorm. With a painful childhood, Vijee was a rebel from her early days. As a young woman, Vijee contests and challenges fairy tales and mythologies popular around the world and condemns the idea of worshipping women, but also declares men as devils.

Wrapped in a package of sarcasm and wit, she rips off male supremacy. She mulls over everything from prostitution to marriage, mental health to reproductive (dis)abilities, prejudice and prestige, sexuality and boredom. She quotes historical anecdotes, contemporary experiences and examples from geopolitics, while shattering the glorified image of man. Finding parallels with Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain’s short story ‘Sualtana’s Dream’, Vijee envisions a female-dominated utopian future with, eventually, no men.
